In addition to new umbrellas, Elinchrom has also introduced compatible diffusers and reflectors that add a second level of functionality for a fraction of the cost. The optional Elinchrom Black Diffuser for Deep Umbrella (41 In.) offers the lighting effect of a direct softbox with a single diffuser, with the central position of the Elinchrom head offering a more symmetrical result, when used with the Umbrella Deep translucent. By simply adding the diffuser or reflector, the umbrella is transformed into a “fold-up” softbox, giving photographers another light shaper to use without sacrificing the umbrella’s portability. The diffuser slips over the open side of the Deep Translucent Umbrella, with your flash head in the center of it. The black exterior contains spill light while the reflective silver interior creates a wide spread of light that’s soft, with a crisp edge.
